Prepare Us For Service
Heavenly Father, prepare us for your service we pray,
So our lives would glorify you each day.
Give us clean hands and pure hearts,
And in your kingdom may we do our part
To be used of you in some small way,
Ministering to those who’ve gone astray.
Father, work through us, some soul to win
Who’s life is broken and lost in sin.
Prepare us to be your instruments of peace
In a world of turmoil and wars without cease.
May we submit to your divine control,
As gently you prod us within the fold;
And the times we need a firmer hand,
We pray you’d harshly reprimand,
Molding us into the image of your own Son,
Preparing us for the race you’d have us run.
Fill us with your Holy Spirit we humbly ask,
Enabling us to meet our daily tasks.
Help us to labor for the things of eternity,
Shunning the world of frivolity;
For we want to be faithful servants to you,
Following your guidance in all that we do.
It’s by your Spirit the victory is won,
And all praise and honor goes to your Son,
Our Lord and Saviour who made the way
For us to dwell in heaven with you some day.
Christ himself came not to be served, but to reach out,
Teaching us what serving is all about.
May we follow his steps and serve compassionately,
As we see the needs wherever they be;
And at the end when the race has been run,
Father, may we hear you say to us... "Well Done".
"For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister"
(Mark 10:45)
