Think on These Things
So many times we clog our minds
By focusing on the ills;
Life’s too short to get out of sorts
And lose the peace God instills.
Forgive all sin against you, friend,
And hold not a single grudge;
Think on the good the way you should,
And remember not to judge.
When things go wrong, look for a song,
You can always find one there;
Begin to sing…and it will bring…
Such a clearing of the air.
In the future, look for virtue
And, if there be any praise,
Think on these things as your heart sings…
And rejoice all of your days.
When Christ we know, sweet fruit doth flow,
Let us leave wrong thoughts behind;
Great joy is wrought by pleasant thought—
Things that are just, pure, and kind…
Think on These Things.
“Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever
things are honest,
whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
(Phil 4:8)
