The Mission Field

A large mission field lies beyond
The walls of the church building;
There, hungry, thirsty souls are seeking,
With hearts ready for yielding.
When the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Is proclaimed in love and power,
Irresistible grace goes forth
With a great feast to shower…
Right there, on The Mission Field.

Only broken receptive hearts
Can receive God’s message there,
For all who’re stiff necked and prideful
Are bound in the devil’s snare.
It takes the mighty hand of God
To break heavy chains that bind;
His Word goes out with healing for
Spirit, body, soul, and mind…
Right there, on The Mission Field.

There’s a mission field in the church,
Where redeemed souls meet to pray,
For many who sit on the pews
Are unsaved or far away.
As the Gospel of Christ is preached
To the cold religionists,
All with spiritual ears to hear
Can be filled with joyfulness…
Right there, on The Mission Field.

 Jesus said: “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields;
for they are white already to harvest.”
(Jn 4:35)
