Rather Than
I'd rather walk through the valley deep,
Tempted, tested and tried,
Than enjoy the highest mountain peak
Where Satan doth abide.
I'd rather go through rough, deep waters
With Jesus by my side,
Than to sail smoothly on the calm sea
Without His hand to guide.
I'd rather walk in the darkest night
Never seeing ahead,
Than to bask in the brightest sunlight
Where Satan's angels tread.
I'd rather live in the midst of war
With danger all around,
Than to have world peace with compromise-
Truth trampled to the ground.
I'd rather be there on the front line-
A soldier of the cross,
Than never fight the good fight of faith,
And suffer eternal loss.
"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called,
and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."
(I Tim.6:12)
