The Test of Christianity
It's such a wonderful Christian life
When all is going our way,
The church bells ringing, the great choir singing,
Oh, what a glorious day!
But when troubles come and doubts arise,
And we feel so all alone,
Can we still rejoice? Do we hear God's voice
Assuring us we're His own?
It's easy to walk the walk of faith
When the devil's far behind;
Focused upon Christ, we're just not enticed
To fall into sins that bind;
But when Satan's near, clouding our view,
Alluring our hearts to stray,
It is then we know, for our actions show,
Just who we serve and obey.
In the depths of sorrow and suffering,
Is our faith in God still strong?
Can we still proclaim His glorious Name
When everything's going wrong?
The true test of Christianity
Is in the dark, stormy vale...
The faith that survives is that which relies
On Christ...He will never fail.
"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you...
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings..."
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;
(for he is faithful that promised)"
(I Pet.4:12,13; Heb.10:23)
