True Liberty
Christ, our shining Light - The Son of God above,
Calls out to one and all, proclaiming the Father’s love:
"Come ye who are tired and weary, those who are tempest tossed;
The homeless, hungry, poor, the wretched, sinful lost;
Come all ye huddled masses yearning to be free;
From a weary world of darkness, come ye unto me.
My yoke is easy, my burden light, there’s rest on the peaceful shore,
I lift my lamp eternally beside the golden door."
"If the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed"
(John 8:36)
Inspired by "The New Colossus", a poem by Emma Lazarus inscribed on
a tablet in the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty in 1903.
