In the Cross

 

 

The greatest love ever known to man
Is revealed in the Cross—
That Cross where Jesus so willingly
Shed His blood for the lost.
The most important event ever—
The turning point in time—
God’s salvation made available…
By grace to all mankind.

To that old rugged Cross of Calv’ry
Our hearts and souls are drawn,
As the Spirit reveals God’s message…
Making our Saviour known.
It is there we find His forgiveness—
Sins remembered no more—
New abundant life in the Kingdom…
Nothing is as before.

Oh, what precious blood flowed from that tree
To wash away our sin!
Oh, what a sacrifice our Lord made
To redeem sinful men!
It’s in the Cross we find life’s meaning
And a purpose to live,
And it’s in the Cross we learn real love…
Denying self to give.

 

Jesus said: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life
for his friends.” “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life
shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.”
(Jn 15:13; Lk 9:23-24)
