The Compassion of Christ

The compassion of Christ goes beyond words
Or human comprehension;
It cannot be measured, earned, or defined,
For it has no dimension.
Oh, what compassion to lay down His life
That you and I could be free –
A love far beyond human emotion…
Deeper than the deepest sea.

The compassion of Christ for sinful man
Is infinite love divine;
It is beyond what we can understand
With the human, finite mind.
Just why He would die for our sinful souls
Is such a great mystery,
But, we can praise Him for that sacrifice…
Throughout all eternity.

It was my sin that nailed Him to the cross
That dark crucifixion day;
Oh, the compassion of Christ, my Savior,
When He took my sin away.
Repent and believe the gospel my friend,
And be forgiven of sin;
In loving compassion, He shed His blood…
To give you new life within.
Oh, The Compassion of Christ!

 “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion”
“God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
(Ps. 145:8; Rom. 5:8)
