Conforming to His Image

This mortal could never be
Like God's holy, righteous Son,
For within is no good thing,
"None is righteous, no not one."
Thank God for the new birth-
Christ's Spirit living within,
Enabling us to follow Him,
Free from lust and sin.
We're conformed to His image
As we read God's Holy Word,
Obeying His will and way-
His precious truths having heard.
As we grow in grace we find
His Spirit in us increased,
And our fleshly mortal self,
Has now, somehow, decreased.
As we walk in His Spirit,
Our own flesh made weak,
God conforms us to His image
As His holiness we seek.

"He must increase, but I must decrease."
"...yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness."
(John 3:30; Rom.6:19)
