The Written Word

 

The Bible, God's Holy Written Word,
Is His message to all mankind -
The book of law and guidance
For the heart, soul and mind.
It's so much more than a history book,
Though all accounts are true,
It's a personal letter from our loving Father,
Written specifically for me and you.
A letter of mercy and tenderness,
One of unconditional love and grace;
It tells of the sacrificial death of His Son,
For every kindred, tongue and race.
God inspired the precious message
The pen of man wrote down,
And whenever it's pages are opened
Manna from heaven is found.
Hungry, seeking souls are fed
Reading the Word each day,
As the Holy Spirit illumines truth
Revealing God's will and way.
The Author is His own interpreter
For the open, thirsty heart,
And the water of life flows freely
To saturate every part.
When it's difficult to comprehend
The contents of His letter,
If we'll draw closer to the Author
We'll understand it better.

Father, thank You for The Written Word -
Our instruction book for life;
It's an anchor that always holds
In the storms of trouble and strife.

 

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God..."
"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
(II Tim.3:16; II Pet.1:21)
