A Balm for the Soul
There is a balm in Gilead…
The Great Physician's there,
A healing ointment for the soul
Who needs His tender care.
A balm to heal the blinded eyes
Giving new spiritual sight,
To open the ears of the deaf,
And turn hearts to the right.
Yes, there's a balm in Gilead
To reach that wound so deep,
Save the lost repentant sinner,
And restore wayward sheep.
A balm to set the captive free,
And mend the broken heart,
To liberate the bound and bruised...
A new life to impart.
Praise God for the Great Physician!
His touch can make us whole;
As we come to Him for healing...
There's a Balm for the Soul.
"Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there?"
Jesus said: "He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight
to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised."
(Jer. 8:22; Luke 4:18)
