Keep Us in the Trenches
Lord, keep us in the trenches
Of human need…
Faithful soldiers of the cross,
Sowing Gospel seed.
Let the sweat be on our brow
You felt on Calv'ry's tree…
As You hung there in our place,
Our needy souls to free.
Oh, let us never complain,
As we serve and labor,
That the way's too difficult
To help our neighbor;
But let us gladly reach out,
A hungry soul to feed…
Lord, Keep Us in the Trenches
Of human need.
"Whoso…seeth his brother have need, and shutteth
up his bowels of compassion from him,
how dwellth the love of God in him?"
"Love thy neighbour as thyself."
(1 John 3:17; Mark 12:31)
