Doubting Thomases

There are many doubting Thomases
In the churches everywhere—
Folks who have not grasped God’s promises
And don’t really know He’s there;
Having never come to know Jesus
In a real and personal way,
They aren’t truly convinced He’s alive,
Though they bow their heads to pray.

Thomas had to see and feel the Lord
Before he knew it was He,
But our Lord blesses those who believe,
Even though they do not see.
May God help us not to be doubters
As we live on earth’s sod,
But to bow before Christ and proclaim…
“My Lord and My God.”

“Then saith Jesus to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger,
and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand,
and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me,
thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen,
and yet have believed.”
(Jn 20:27-29)
