Run with the Footmen

When you run with the footmen,
Grow not weary or faint…
Be strong in faith and Spirit…
Run as a blood bought saint.

Trust God when the day is dark,
And the path is unclear…
Depend on His sovereign hand…
Run without doubt or fear.

If the footmen weary you,
And you complain, my friend,
When the horses of trial come…
Just how will you contend?

Empowered by God above,
Having received His Son…
Learn to Run with the Footmen…
And be strong when horses come.

“If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee,
then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace,
wherein thou trustest, they wearied thee,
then how will thou do in the swelling of Jordan?”
(Jer 12:5)
