What Would Jesus Do?

In the garden of the heart,
Lust is like a weed…
Much good fruit has been destroyed
By that harmful seed.
It can lead to sinful acts
That will destroy you,
If lust is in your garden…
Just ask, “What would Jesus do?”

The weed of hatred within,
Makes bitter the fruit…
Only God’s loving Spirit
Can pluck up that root.
It’s as the sin of murder,
In our Shepherd’s view,
Leading to hurt and violence…
My friend, what would Jesus do?

All sin begins in the heart,
Then becomes an act…
An act that is so costly –
A tried, proven fact.
Oh, let us till our gardens,
And keep our hearts true,
Removing the weeds of sin…
Asking, “What Would Jesus Do?”

“Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries,
fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies”
“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
(Matt 15:19; Pr 4:23)
