Fitly Spoken Words
A word fitly spoken
Is a seed that is sown…
It reaches the spirit
Where precious fruit is grown.
But a sharp, careless word
Can pierce like a dart…
And be a stumbling block
To a seeking heart.
Friend, let us be careful
The words that we choose…
May each one be a seed
That our God can use.
May we never utter
Words that pierce like a dart…
But Fitly Spoken Words…
That take root in the heart.
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold
in pictures of silver.”
“Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”
(Prov. 25:11; Ps. 141:3)
