The Law

 

 

The Law cannot save a depraved soul,
Or give abundant life within,
But it can convict a seeking heart…
Who is lost in a state of sin.
It cannot bring a backslider home,
Or restore joy of salvation,
But it can convict a straying heart…
Who has yielded to temptation.

The law reveals our need of Jesus,
The merciful Saviour and King;
It brings us to our knees confessing…
We need Him more than anything.
God writes His holy law in the hearts
Of all who repent and believe;
We delight in keeping His commands…
When Jesus, His Son, we receive.

 

 

 “The law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ,
that we might be justified by faith.”
“After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts,
And write them in their hearts; and will be their God and they shall be my people”
Paul said: “For I delight in the law of God after the inward man”
(Gal 3:24; Jer 31:33; Rom 7:22)
