Freed From Legalism
Legalism, without the Spirit,
Is religion – dead and cold;
It cannot mend a broken heart,
Or fill an empty soul.
It is like the stars without sparkle,
Or the moon without its beam;
The flower without its fragrance…
A life without a dream.
Legalism, apart from Jesus,
Is bondage with no release;
It cannot free the sinful soul,
Or give love, joy, or peace.
Only the Holy Spirit of God
Can break the power of sin,
Impart the Light of God’s glory…
A broken heart to mend.
Legalism melts beneath God’s love,
And we serve our Saviour…freed.
Born again, bondservants to Christ,
We want to serve Him indeed!
The stars begin to sparkle and shine,
And the moon has a bright beam;
The flower has a sweet fragrance…
And our life has a dream.
“For the law of the Spirit of life in
Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh,
God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,
condemned sin in the flesh:
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
(Rom 8:2-4)
