A Godly Father

A Godly father loves his child
More than words could ever say,
For his heart is like the Shepherd’s
As he leads the righteous way.
He knows he shall give an account
To his Lord above one day
For the way he molds that life he holds…
As a yielded piece of clay.

With tender loving care, he trains,
Not sparing his shepherd’s rod,
While praying each and every day
For a closer walk with God;
For he knows his child learns much more
By the example he sees,
Than what he is told by one grown cold…
And instructions he receives.

A Godly father knows his days
Are limited with this clay;
While it’s still soft and pliable,
He must form it in God’s way;
And when he departs for glory,
He’ll leave clear footprints behind
For his child to trace and find his place…
In Christ’s great kingdom sublime.

 “Denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly, in this present world”
“Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old,
he will not depart from it.”
(Tit 2:12; Prov 22:6)
