The Nearness of You

 

Lord, it’s not the moon shining so bright,
That sets my heart all aglow…
Nor the stars glistening in the night,
As I stand in awe below…
Oh, no, it’s just the nearness of You.

It’s not the glory of a sunset,
That excites my heart with glee…
Nor a rainbow I cannot forget,
That reveals Your love to me…
O Lord, it’s just the nearness of You.

It’s not fancy foods and caviar,
That feed my spirit within…
Nor traveling to new lands afar,
Beautiful sights to take in...
Oh, no, it’s just the nearness of You.

It’s not a magnificent mountain,
That can stir and thrill my soul…
Lord, it is You, the Living Fountain,
That gives joy and makes me whole…
Oh, yes, it’s just the nearness of You.

Knowing it is to You I belong,
This whole world takes on a glow…
And my heart sings a glorious song…
As I stand in awe, I know…
O Lord, it is The Nearness of You.
