The Spirit of Truth

 

The Spirit of the Living God
Moved on earth when time began,
And He is still moving today…
Breathing life in mortal man.
He always speaks, not of Himself,
But of Christ, the risen King,
Testifying of the Saviour…
God’s great salvation to bring.

Apart from the Holy Spirit,
Man is in darkness and sin,
Spiritually dead and helpless…
With no peace or joy within.
Only the Spirit of our God
Can raise a dead sinful soul
To an abundant life in Christ…
And secure Him in the fold.

The Spirit of Truth teaches us
How to listen and obey,
Reproving when we slip and fall…
And reviving when we pray.
He is our Comforter and Guide,
The Protector of our soul,
Let us follow His guiding hand…
Till heaven’s portals unfold.

 

Jesus said: “When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you
into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself , but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak; and he shall shew you things to come.
He shall glorify me; for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”
“Ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
(John 16:13-14; 14:17)
