Fiery Trials

I’d rather go thru fiery trials
Where I clearly see my King…
Than to walk in comfort and ease
And never have fruit to bring.
We may never have come to Christ,
Had it not been for the fire…
We may not have been born again,
Nor even had the desire.
It is in those times of trouble
That our hearts are drawn to Him…
As the Light of His glory shines
Right into the darkness grim.
Yes, I’d rather have fiery trials,
As many as my soul needs…
I want the garden of my heart
To be free of worldly weeds.
Let us thank Him for every trial –
The suffering, heartache, and pain…
May He take us thru all we need,
That His will be clear and plain.
The trial of our faith is worth more
Than fine gold, which shall perish…
It purifies, bringing glory
To our Lord whom we cherish.
Whatever it takes to know Him,
Even the furnace of fire…
That is where I want to be…
To know Christ is my desire.

“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth,
though it be tried with fire, might be found unto the praise and honour and glory
at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”
“That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings”
(I Pet. 1:7; Phil. 3:10)
