A Godly Church

 

A Godly church is not a perfect church,
For its members are still human clay,
But it’s a body of true believers…
Seeking to glorify God each day.
It is a church filled with God’s sweet Spirit –
Fruit visible for the world to see,
Endeavoring to serve Christ, the Saviour…
Impacting lives for eternity.
Its members are saved, repentant sinners,
Just plain, simple folks like you and me –
Folks who have come to the cross of Jesus…
Surrendering all at Calvary.

A Godly church does not leave its first love,
But remains steadfast, faithful and true,
Following the undershepherd’s lead…
As the Holy Spirit guides them thru.
It is a church, standing upon God’s Word,
Refusing to bend or compromise,
For it knows the only right way to grow…
Is in the Spirit, not just in size.
It is not cold or lukewarm, but zealous,
Loving every sister and brother,
And preaching Christ to a lost, dying world…
For salvation is in none other.

Father, help us to be a Godly Church,
Totally dedicated to You –
A church on fire for Christ and the gospel…
Glorifying You in all we do.
